This novel means so much to me, and I am thrilled to finally be able to share it with you! Midway through the writing of the novel, my editor and I discussed how important book three is in a series and how often it represents the series coming into its own. I absolutely feel like that's the case for this novel. I think of it as more of all of my favorite parts of the series: more heart-gripping moments, more intriguing creatures, more challenges before the characters, more action and adventure, and, of course, more druidy magic!
If you've already read Buried Heroes, you've probably guessed that the namesake for this book is Teodric's ship of the same name, the Amber Queen herself named after the pirate admiral Syleste. But there's a second "amber queen" lurking between the novel's pages and awaiting your discovery. Let me know when you find her! (And we'll all be careful not to tell Syleste; she's frightening enough without feeling threatened by a possible competitor.)
There were several surprising twists and turns during the novel-writing for me, and I think that leads to an exciting and immserive reading experience. As we inch toward the autumn (or the spring, depending on where you are!), I hope you find a cozy spot to curl up for some well deserved adventuring!
